Introduction

ECOPERSIA is a combination of ECO, referring to all different types of ecosystems, and PERSIA, the old name of Iran, where the journal is published. It is a Scopus-Indexed Journal, entirely free-of-charge, fast processing, and an international multidisciplinary journal for the publication of novel and high-impact research in all sciences, technologies, engineering, and managerial aspects of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. It has profoundly received the gracious support of the World Association of Soil and Water Conservation (WASWAC- http://www.waswac.org.cn/waswac/index.htm) as a worldwide academic society, established in the USA in August 1983, moved in 2003 to the International Center for Research and Training on Erosion and Sedimentation (ICRTS), Beijing, China, and ultimately from October 2010 to the International Research and Training Center on Erosion and Sedimentation (IRTCES), also in Beijing, China.

Aims and Scope

ECOPERSIA is a peer-reviewed quarterly journal published by the Tarbiat Modares University (https://www.modares.ac.ir/) and under the responsibility of its Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board in the determined scopes. All manuscripts on the terrestrial and marine environments, including the atmosphere, lithosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, anthroposphere, and associated aspects, are considered for processing. The editorial board of ECOPERSIA invites innovative, high-quality, multidisciplinary environmental research papers with an overall impact. Studies that advance fundamental understanding and focus on the interconnectedness of multiple domains will be prioritized. Manuscripts reporting laboratory experiments and field investigations with substantial improvements in technique or mechanistic knowledge with a clear relationship to the environment are preferred. There will be no consideration for descriptive, repetitive, or research with little originality. ECOPERSIA is an international research journal that advances scientific studies. The journal will consider submissions from around the world on research not yet published or submitted for publication, including full papers, review articles, and research notes. The Papers are published in English. Papers deemed suitable are then typically sent to at least three independent expert reviewers to assess the scientific quality of the paper in a double-blind style. The Editor is responsible for the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection of articles.

Ethical Policy

ECOPERSIA's ethical policy is based on the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) as detailed in Ethical Policy Statement for ECOPERSIA. Since the beginning of 2013, ECOPERSIA has been published regularly. The journal has a renowned international editorial board with substantial academic credentials, ensuring high scientific standards and broad international reach. All submitted papers are cross-checked using iThenticate software to ensure the highest standards.

Digital Preservation

ECOPERSIA archives all papers not only on our university servers but also through the Portico digital preservation service and the National Library and Archives of Iran (NLAI). This ensures long-term accessibility even if the journal or publisher ceases operations.

Complaints and Appeals

ECOPERSIA outlines the procedure for submitting complaints, the timeline for acknowledgment and resolution (acknowledgment within 5 working days, final response within 30 days), and the appeals process for authors who disagree with editorial decisions.

Research Involving Animals and Humans

ECOPERSIA expands the Ethical Oversight Policy to address research involving human subjects and animals explicitly. The updated policy now requires:

- Ethics committee approval statements for human research, including the name of the approving committee and approval number

- Informed consent documentation

- Compliance with institutional animal care and use committee guidelines for animal research

- Clear statements on anonymity, confidentiality, and informed consent procedures

Whistleblower Policy

ECOPERSIA is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity. This policy provides a safe and confidential channel for all stakeholders—including authors, reviewers, editors, readers, and journal staff—to report suspected research misconduct or publication ethics violations. The journal encourages whistleblowers to raise concerns in good faith and pledges to protect them fully, prohibiting any form of retaliation. The policy ensures confidentiality and protection for whistleblowers who report concerns in good faith, and describes the process for investigating allegations.

Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern

ECOPERSIA provides a comprehensive Post-Publication Corrections and Retractions Policy that clearly defines:

- When and how corrections (errata/corrigenda) are published for minor errors

- The process and criteria for retractions (e.g., unreliable data, plagiarism, redundant publication)

- The use of Expressions of Concern when evidence is inconclusive, or investigations are ongoing

- All notices follow COPE guidelines and are linked to the original article

 Publisher's Funding Model

ECOPERSIA presents an Open Access Funding Model on the website. The statement confirms that the journal operates on a platinum open access model with no article processing charges (APC) for authors, and that Tarbiat Modares University financially supports the journal.

Peer Review Process (Click)

ECOPERSIA is a double-blind, with each submission reviewed by at least three independent expert reviewers.

Conflict of Interest Policy

ECOPERSIA expands the Conflicts of Interest Policy to cover not only authors but also editors, reviewers, and journal staff. The updated policy includes:

- Disclosure requirements for all parties

- Procedures for editors to recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where they have conflicts

- Guidelines for reviewers to decline manuscripts with potential conflicts

Resubmission

ECOPERSIA prepares a comprehensive document detailing all structural and format deficits and mismatches to the authors, allowing them to resubmit their manuscripts. The authors are also allowed to resubmit their rejected manuscript if they deem they have made substantial improvements in the parts because of which their manuscript has been rejected.
